Evolve a weapon

Unlock the ultimate by evolving once, starting from a material the queue screen actually lists.

Each weapon is reported to ship with three skills. The ultimate, the fourth skill, stays locked until you evolve that weapon. Evolution is one step in the current build. Players who still saw an evolution prompt afterward were told there is no second evolution yet.

Materials

Evolution spends a weapon-specific material. The confirmed example is Sukuna Fingers for Sukuna, dropped from runs. The full material list for every weapon is not published. Before you grind, open the queue screen and read the drop preview for the act or mode you are about to start.

Material pity guarantees the missing item after 5 runs without that drop. That counter is the safety net when the preview says the act can drop your material and it has not.

If the evolve button will not fire

The common report is a weapon, often Cursed King, showing an evolution that cannot be confirmed. The usual cause is a missing material. The menu does not always name the missing item. Check your inventory against the recipe before you call the weapon broken.

Order of operations

  1. Keep a weapon you will still use after the next rarity upgrade. Mythic and above are the usual evolve targets.
  2. Farm the act whose preview lists that weapon's material.
  3. Evolve, confirm the ultimate is on the bar, then pair the weapon using the synergy table.

An unevolved high-rarity kit is still three skills. A fully evolved kit you understand will clear faster than a new roll whose ultimate is locked.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I play first?

Story, on a difficulty you can finish. Defend and Infinite are unlocked as choices in the lobby, but they are poor places to learn a kit.
